"Pacific Hawk supports families in maintaining harmony and creating legacies”
A.Cooley
Pacific Hawk's Cooley Family Office provides mediation and collaboration services to families.

Mediation is a voluntary and non-adversarial process where the mediator facilitates the parties to negotiate and resolve family disputes on divorce, business and probate.
About
The collaborative practice includes a team of professionals who leverage their areas of expertise to address the emotional, financial and legal needs of families going through divorce or separation.

We believe in a famous Chinese proverb that says, “the harmonious family and society will always prosper.”

Resorting to a confrontational approach and going to court to settle family matters should always be the last resort.
Ann Cooley JD, CFP
Ann Cooley is the CEO of Cooley Family Office. The company’s mission is to help families maintain harmony and create legacies. Ann has managed assets and complex family issues in New York, Europe, and Hong Kong, for families including the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, and Cadburys.

Ann established Pacific Hawk in Hong Kong in 1997 with the vision that Hong Kong/China would be led by powerful families to become an important International Financial Centre.

Services
Collaborative Practice
Collaboration practice involves a team of professionals including, lawyers, financial neutrals and a family counsellor. The parties in dispute will each be represented by a lawyer. A financial neutral collects, prepares and analyzes the financial information from the parties. A family counsellor helps to maintain a positive, respectful and long-lasting relationship for the children and family, and moderate tensions.

  • The parties make the final decision without going to court
  • The agenda, time and venue are controlled by the parties
  • The financial neutral is jointly appointed
Ann is on the board of the Hong Kong Collaborative Practice Group (HKCPG) which provides collaborative practice in Hong Kong. HKCPG was founded in 2010 by a community of pioneering family law practitioners who were keen to promote collaborative practices in Hong Kong. Its membership has grown considerably, with practitioners from the key fields of lawyers, financial advisors, child psychologists, and counsellors.
Family Mediation
Through mediation, we help families or couples to resolve their issues and move forward to pursue their dreams and lifestyles. In the mediation process, at least one mediator is appointed as the neutral third party to assist and facilitate the parties in dispute. They will identify issues and help families to understand their needs, concerns and interests. The goal is to explore solutions and find mutual agreement.

Benefits of mediation include:
  • Confidentiality and discretion
  • Helping to maintain long term relationships
  • An efficient and more convenient process
Family Business Mediation
Family business mediation is a process where a neutral third party helps family members resolve conflicts and disputes within a family-owned business. Family business mediation aims to identify issues and facilitate communication to help family members reach mutually acceptable solutions for a benedict outcome.

Some areas include:
  • Succession planning
  • Financial disputes
  • Communication breakdown
  • Sibling and family disputes
Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements
We believe open communication is one of the building blocks of a successful and healthy marriage. There may be topics that require attention and formal agreement, but are difficult to communicate with your family. The issues may be related to asset/debt protection, estate planning and protection for children from previous marriage, etc. A pre/post-nuptial agreement may be helpful to establish the necessary guidelines and agreement.
Skilled Business Partners
We have strong collaborative partnerships with professionals, such as family lawyers, collaborative practitioners, mediators, accountants, tax advisors and family counselors to help you and your family achieve your missions.
Confidentiality & Integrity
All correspondence, information and meetings are kept strictly confidential.
